Sophrologist in Enghien-les-Bains: a calendar built around your clients

In Enghien-les-Bains, most working residents work outside the town. For a sophrologist, this changes opening hours, services and the way appointments are booked.

Are you a sophrologist in Enghien-les-Bains, or planning to set up there? Before setting your hours, look at where the residents work. According to Insee, the French statistics office, 83% of working people who live in Enghien-les-Bains and have a job work in another town, and 53% commute by public transport (2023 census). Your future clients are therefore often out of town during the day. A calendar set to 9 am–6 pm, Monday to Friday, misses them.

Who are your clients as a sophrologist in Enghien-les-Bains?

The town had 11,432 inhabitants in 2023. Three Insee benchmarks, taken from the same census, help you build a realistic calendar.

Three Insee benchmarks for Enghien-les-Bains in 2023: 83% of working people with a job work in another town, 53% commute by public transport, 21% of residents are aged 65 or over
Enghien-les-Bains in three figures (Insee, 2023 census).
  • Working people who commute elsewhere. Of the 5,289 employed people living in the town, 4,393 work in another town. For them, a session is only possible early in the morning, in the evening, on Saturday or remotely.
  • Journeys by train or bus. 2,825 of the 5,289 employed people commute by public transport. One delay on the line, and the 7 pm session starts late. Allow a margin between two evening appointments.
  • A share of seniors. 13.6% of residents are aged 65 to 79 and 7.8% are 80 or over, which is just over one in five. These clients are available during the day, and some will prefer to phone rather than book online.

Enghien also has an image linked to wellbeing. Its tourist office presents it as the only spa town in the Île-de-France region, with a history going back to the discovery of its sulphurous waters in 1766. However, none of these figures tells you how many sophrologists already practise there: it's up to you to look at the competition around your practice.

A typical case: a sophrologist based near the lake

Let's take a typical case, made up for the example but true to the profession. A sophrologist sees clients in her practice in Enghien-les-Bains. She offers a first session of about an hour and a quarter, with time to discuss the client's needs, then one-hour follow-up sessions. She also runs a group workshop on Saturday mornings and sees a few clients by video.

Here is her week before and after setting up an online calendar designed for her clientele.

Booking appointmentsCalls during sessions, calling back in the evening, back-and-forth messages to find a dateWorking people book online in the evening, from the train; calls remain possible for those who prefer them

Clear services for a clientele of working people

A visitor discovering sophrology doesn't necessarily know what a "follow-up session" is. Name your services the way people search for them: "First session (1 h 15)", "Follow-up session (1 h)", "Video session (1 h)". State the duration and price of each.

On Calendrio, one setting is worth knowing before you start. A service takes place in a single location (practice, video, phone, home or another address), or "client's choice". That last option then offers all locations at once. To offer "practice or video" without home visits, you therefore need to create two separate services. Our sophrologist thus has three services (first session, follow-up at the practice, video). Her Saturday workshop is created separately, as a group session, with a time, a price and a maximum number of places.

The free plan stops short of that: it allows two services, and group sessions are not included. For three services and a workshop, you need a paid plan (Pro at €39 excl. VAT per month) or the one-month trial. It's worth knowing before you set everything up.

Description template to adapt (follow-up session)

"One-hour individual session at the practice, near the lake in Enghien-les-Bains. We review the past week, then practise together breathing and relaxation exercises you can repeat at home. Sophrology does not replace medical care: if you are being treated for a health problem, talk to your doctor. Price: €[price]. Free cancellation up to [notice period] before the session."

Opening in the evening and on Saturday without giving up all your evenings

Seeing working people doesn't mean working from 8 am to 9 pm. The idea is to move some of your hours, not to add more.

Different hours for each service

A new Calendrio account starts with opening hours from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. Change them right from the start. Your practice hours set the framework, then each service can have shorter hours. For example: practice open until 9 pm on Tuesday and Thursday, but "First session" limited to 7:30 pm, so you don't finish a long session too late.

A minimum notice before each session

The minimum booking notice, in hours, is set service by service. A notice of a few hours prevents a client from booking a 6:30 pm session at 6 pm, when you are already in a session and haven't seen the booking.

Your holidays and your personal calendar

Exceptional closures (holidays, training) are entered separately, without touching your usual hours. If your Google or Outlook calendar is connected, its events also block slots: the 6 pm school meeting won't be booked by a client.

Clients who prefer to call

Some of your clients, especially older ones, will keep phoning. Add the appointment to your calendar yourself: the slot is no longer offered online, and everything is in one place.

For support over several sessions, repetition saves time: a client appointment can be repeated every week, a chosen number of times. The series is created straight away, and a slot already taken by another appointment is skipped. That way you set all the dates with the client from the first session.

As for forgotten appointments, the email reminder the day before is included from the free plan. With a paid plan or during the trial, you can send SMS reminders and choose when they go out; the client can also choose their own timing when booking. To reduce no-shows further on long first sessions, a written and displayed cancellation policy works better than a rule given verbally.

What the regulations expect from your page

Sophrology is not a regulated profession in France: anyone may practise it, as the CIDJ (the French youth information centre) points out. This freedom does not exempt you from consumer protection rules.

The DGCCRF, France's consumer protection authority, monitors so-called "non-conventional" healthcare practices. In its survey published in March 2022 (checks from October 2020 to September 2021, 381 establishments targeted, around fifty disciplines), it found an anomaly rate of 66%. Misleading commercial practices, including promises of cure, accounted for around two thirds of the offences recorded in official reports.

In practical terms, for your booking page:

  • describe what happens during the session, not a health outcome ("breathing exercises", not "cures anxiety");
  • display the price of each service: the DGCCRF points out that the list of services and their prices must be displayed where clients are received, and that online, the price must be known before the contract is concluded;
  • avoid the caduceus and health-related terms: the DGCCRF notes these create confusion with health professions;
  • encourage people to see a doctor if they have a health problem.

If you have doubts about a wording or your obligations, contact your professional federation, your chamber of commerce or trades, or a legal adviser.

Once your page is ready, make it known locally: the booking link goes on your Google Business Profile, which people check when they look for a sophrologist near them.

  • In Enghien-les-Bains, 83% of employed people work in another town: plan slots in the evening, on Saturday or by video.
  • Move hours rather than adding them, with hours specific to each service.
  • Keep the phone for those who prefer it, and add those appointments to the same calendar.
  • Describe your sessions without promises of cure and display your prices.
  • Practice and video = two services; the free plan allows two, without group sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Is it long and complicated to set up?
No, if you first prepare the list of your services with their duration and price, your hours and your cancellation rules. All that's left is to enter these settings in Calendrio, then share the link to your page. The first 10 founding businesses and practitioners have their page set up by the Calendrio team in 15 minutes, on site near Enghien-les-Bains or by video.
What hours should you offer as a sophrologist in Enghien-les-Bains?
Think about working people: 83% of those who live in the town work elsewhere (Insee, 2023). A few evenings, Saturday mornings and video sessions suit them better than the middle of the day. Keep some daytime slots for retirees and shorten your other days accordingly, rather than adding hours.
Can I offer video sessions in the evening and in-person sessions during the day?
Yes. Create a "session at the practice" service and a "video session" service, each with its own hours within your practice hours. On Calendrio, the Google Meet link is created automatically if your Google calendar is connected. The "client's choice" setting offers all locations at once, which is why two services are useful.
Is the free plan enough for a sophrologist?
It is enough to get started with two services, for example a first session and a follow-up session, with online payment, calendar syncing and an email reminder the day before. Beyond two services, for group sessions, packages or SMS reminders, you need a paid plan, such as Pro at €39 excl. VAT per month, or the one-month free trial.

What if your calendar filled itself?

With Calendrio, your clients book online 24/7 and receive automatic reminders. 1-month free trial, no credit card required.
